Peregrine Falcon
Falco peregrinus
This drawing features in one of Matt Fussell's courses. The original image is from Pixabay, where I also downloaded a copy at the highest resolution.
I use the grid system for all my drawings. This one uses a grid of 6 inches by 6 inches. I first use Lightroom to convert to a black and white image, adjusting the levels as needed. I then open the image in Photoshop, resize the image to 6 x 6, then activate the grid and set it for 1 inch spacing. Sadly, there isn't a way for Photoshop to save the image with the grid. I use Apple Mac computers so CMD + SHIFT + 4 and drag the marching ants over the bit I want to grab.
The saved image is OK for working out contour lines and seeing overall tone and texture, however, I also have a high res version in black and white for the detail.
This is drawn on white paper that I have had for a long time, so I have no idea what type of paper it is.
